Boyle BC are hosting a competition next Saturday from 6.30pm for Division 1 Mens Doubles players. There are competitors coming from Galway, Sligo, Donegal and Meath. All are welcome to come along to see what promises to be a great nights badminton.
The Connacht Juvenile Badminton Committee has anounced that they will be running development squads from July 2011 for juvenile players. Please see the attached details below.
Ballaghaderreen BC's U15 Community Games team represented Roscommon and Connacht again this year at the All Ireland Finals in Athlone last weekend. They played and defeated Monaghan (Ulster) in the semi-final on Saturday where they went forward to meet Wexford (Leinster) in the Final on Sunday. However Wexford were an older and stronger team and took the Gold on the day. Ballaghaderreen however will be content with Silver as this is a young team with a few years left in the competition yet. Well done to all these young players who trained hard over the past few weeks for this competition.
Ballygar Badminton Club were awarded Connacht Badminton Club of the Year yesterday at the Badminton Ireland Club of the Year awards yesterday in Dublin. Congratulations to everyone involved in Ballygar BC. Keep up the good work!!

The inaugural Roscommon County Division 7B Final was on Thursday night in Glinsk BC between Roscommon Town and Ballinaheglish. This was an entertaining match with Ballinaheglish winning out on the night.

The Connacht Club Finals took place in GLTC last Sunday where the below clubs from Co. Roscommon took part. However this was not our year as none of the clubs were successful on the day. However, well done to one and all for making it to the finals and giving it their best.

The Roscommon Juvenile Badminton League held their fourth blitz of the season in Ballygar BC on Sunday 10th of April 2011.
There was a good turnout of players and the organisers kept things running smoothly. This was a doubles tournament this time and once again everyone enjoyed themselves at the competition. Thanks to Ballygar BC for another fine days badminton.

The Roscommon County Division 5 Final was held last night in Four Roads BC between Ballaghaderreen/Loughglynn and Ballinaheglish. This was a fiercely fought contest with Ballinaheglish taking the honours.

The U15 Community Games Connacht Final was held last Saturday in Four-Mile House Co. Roscommon. Ballaghaderreen BC represented Roscommon again this year. With Mayo dropping out at the last minute this was a straight final between Roscommon and Sligo with Ballaghaderreen winning out 4-1 in the end. They now go on to represent the province in the All Ireland Finals at the end of May in Athlone.
Well done to one and all on the day.

The U13, U15 & U17, Junior & Senior Inter-Provincial competition took place in Baldoyle last weekend. Connacht was represented at all levels in this competition.
Only juvenile players from Co. Roscommon made the teams this year. These players lined out on the day and gave some sterling performances against serious opposition from the other provinces.
Well done to one and all on the day.

The Roscommon County Division 7 Final was held recently in Four Roads BC between Ballygar and Ballinaheglish. The new club on the scene Ballygar were up for this and took a comprehensive victory on the night. This was a great result for their first year in the competition. Well done to all players from both teams.

Strokestown recently finished runners up in the Midlands league having narrowly lost final to Ballymahon of Longford 10 – 9 in Games. The Final held in St Johns Hall Longford on Monday 14thwas a close encounter and went down to 4th Mixed to separate the sides with Strokestown narrowly loosing this Set 2 games to 1 to hand the win to Ballymahon. Strokestown had won this competition the previous year when they successfully beat Rahan to become 2010 Div 4 Mixed Winners.
Strokestown had finished top of the Table in the League stages having successfully seen off the challenges earlier of Mullingar, Rahan (Offaly) & Ballymahon (Longford) to set up a final between the top two Teams placed in the group.

Roscommon County Badminton Team were successful in winning the All Ireland Inter-County Class 4 Final in Galway LTC yesterday. This is a fantastic achievement for the team. The team has trained hard in preparation for yesterdays final and their hard work has paid off. Well done one and all!

Players from various Juvenile Clubs entered and were successful in the recent Longford Juvenile Open held in Kenagh, Co. Longford. In fact Roscommon players took the lions share of the titles on the day. Well done to all involved..

Roscommon players were successful in the Sligo Doubles competition in Sligo LTC held on last Wednesday night (March 16th).
John Kiernan and Padraic O'Dowd won the Mens A final beating a strong pairing from Sligo.
Paul Lynch and Michael Finnegan beat Alex Gallagher-Lynch and John Finnegan in the Mens B final.
Both groups were close fought matches taking the full three sets to decide.
Ruth O'Hart and Mandy Toolan reached the Ladies final, but although putting up a good fight were beaten by Paul McDonagh and Victoria Stephens.
It was a good night for Roscommon players and clubs and another sign that Roscommon Badminton is going from strength to strength.

The Roscommon U15 Community Games County Final took place last Saturday in Strokestown Sports Centre. Loughglynn, Oran & Ballaghaderreen parish's were represented on the day. The games were in round robin format with a final between Loughglynn & Ballaghaderreen. This went down to the third set in the final game which was won by Ballaghaderreen in the end. What a close match this was. Well done to all the players from all the teams who turned out on the day. Good luck to Ballaghaderreen in the Connacht Final.

Roscommon clubs were very successful in the recent Connacht U11 & U15 competition in Ballaghaderreen and the U13 & U15 competition in Sligo. Large numbers turned out from clubs in the county to contest these titles. Our juvenile players performed very well and did us all proud on the day. Their hard work and training has paid off for them.

Trials for the upcoming Juvenile inter provincials have been organised in De La Salle Hall,Castlebar on Sunday 6th March and will be coordinated by Therese O Brien and Anthony Walsh (selectors).

Clubs are requested to inform any relevant players.
U13 11am to 1pm
U15 1pm to 3pm
U17 3pm to 5pm
Players are required to pay 5 Euro on the day to go towards costs.
Trials for the inter provincial Junior (adult) team will take place in Sligo Tennis club on Sunday 13th March at 5pm.
All interested players should be informed by their respective counties.
5 Euro per player payable on the day towards expenses.

The Roscommon Juvenile Badminton League held their second blitz of the season in Loughglynn BC on Sunday 20th of February2011 last. OMG, what a turnout, absolutely unbelievable! We had 105 juvenile players participating on that afternoon. The hall was packed to the rafters!
Despite these numbers the organisers kept things running smoothly and kept the show on the road.
Well done also to the RJBL committee for coping with the large numbers and running the competition so efficiently.
Everyone enjoyed themselves at the competition. Thanks to Loughglynn BC for another fine days badminton.

Congratulations to the Roscommon Senior County Team who were successful in the Inter-County Competition Class 4 in Limerick last weekend. Roscommon won both matches and are through to the Finals against Waterford in Galway on March 27th. Keep up the hard work!
The Connacht Closed Grade D Competition was held in Galway LTC on Saturday 6th of February 2011 last. This was the inaugural competition for Grade D (Div 7). players. Roscommon clubs were represented on the day and well done to the winners below. This competition will be held in Ballygar BC next year.

Ballaghaderreen Badminton Club have announced that they will hold the Connacht Closed U11 & U15 Competition in St. Nathys Sports Complex on Saturday 26th of February.
This is the first time that a Connacht Juvenile competition will be held in the County.

The Roscommon Closed Grade B-C-D Competition was held in Ballygar BC on Sunday 23rd of Jaunary 2011. Ballygar really showed off their fantastic venue and gave all players a serious welcome to their club. Great craic was had throughout the day along with some brilliant matches. There was a huge turnout of players from throughout the County on the day. It was great to see that this competition was so well supported by the clubs and we can all look forward to it again next year.

The Connacht Closed Grade B Competition was held in Boyle BC on Saturday 15th of Jaunary 2011 last. A fantastic day's competition was held with some brilliant matches. players from throughout the County and Province competed for glory on the day. In fact Co. Roscommon Badminton Association are holding the inaugural Roscommon Closed Competition on Sunday 23rd of January 2011. See the events page for details and the entry form. This will be open to all registered players in the County from Division 1 - 7b. Juvenile players 15 or over will be allowed enter at Grades B & C only. There will be Mens & Ladies singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions on the day.This will be an opportunity for all players in the county to get together and have a fun day out and some great games of badminton.

The first RJBL Juvenile Blitz of the season will be held in Loughglynn Community Centre on next Sunday, 28th of November. Any players interested should contact their coach in order to be entered on time.

There was a good turnout for the second day of the RJBL Development Group held in Loughglynn Community Centre. Players turned out for coaching with the various coaches from the County, under the guidance of Tom Hehir from Badminton Ireland.
It is vital that all players interested in continuing in the group and making the County Teams,practice regularly in their clubs. 22/11/10
The Roscommon Town Badminton Club has been re-launched after some years. Full credit for this venture must go to Sean Staunton who organised and setup the club in the Hyde Centre. In a few weeks numbers are up and the club now boasts both juvenile and adult members. Well done Sean!

Players from clubs in the County attended the U-17 Connacht Open this weekend in Ballina, where they participated in the competition.
Janie Fahey from Loughglynn Club won the Girls Singles and also Girls Doubles with her partner Finnuala Scanlon from Sligo.
Well done girls on this achievement!!
The Annual Loughglynn Open took place last weekend in Loughglynn Community Centre.
There was a huge turnout of Juveniles (60+) on the Saturday and Adults (50+) on the Sunday.
Players from clubs in Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and Roscommon attended the competition. Some of the top players in Ireland attended on the day and gave some fantastic performances. There was some fantastic displays of skill on display in fiercely contested games of singles and doubles.
Everyone who attended enjoyed plenty of matches, as it was non stop badminton from 10am to 9pm on both days.
Well done to Loughglynn Badminton Club for hosting this fine event.
