Ballygar BC to host Badminton Marathon
Ballygar Badminton Club is proud to announce it will be holding a 24-hour Badminton Marathon on Friday 25th May at 6pm. It will run straight through the night until 6pm on Saturday 26th May. This will take place in the Mattie McDonagh Centre, Ballygar, Co. Galway. All proceeds are being donated to Cancer Care West so bring along your racket and play a few games any time over the 24 hours to support this worthy cause.

The Ballaghaderreen U15 Community Games Team represented Roscommon in the Connacht Final held last wekend. Ballaghaderreen won the title for the fourth year running! Well done to all involved and good luck in the All Ireland Finals in May.

All Ireland Schools Badminton Finals - SUCCESS
Congratulations to the Girls U14 team from The Mercy Convent in Roscommon who were outright winners in the The All Ireland Schools Badminton Girls U14 Div. 2 Finals held on Wednesday, 28th of March in Gormanstown College. The girls played well and consistently throught all of their matches to lift the trophy at the end of the day. Well done to all of the girls and their coach/teacher Miss Farragher.

Div 10 Mixed County Final
Well finally we have reached the end of the Division 10 Mixed League and after two close semi-finals we have reached the Final. Ballinaheglish B defeated Ballygar B in the first semi-final and Ballinaheglish A defeated Ballygar A in the second semi-final. This results in an all Ballinaheglish Final which by all accounts will be a real grudge match! Watch this space for details of the final and results.

Div 8 Mixed County Final
Division 8 was always going to be a close affair with only three teams in the league. After the withdrawl of Ballygar from the league it leaves us with a straight final between Boyle and Ballinaheglish. Both teams are training hard and we are looking forward to this encounter.

All Ireland Schools Badminton Finals
The All Ireland Schools Badminton Finals are being held this Wednesday, 28th of March in Gormanstown College. Two Roscommon schools represent Connacht in these competitions.
The Girls U14 team from The Mercy Convent in Roscommon are in the Girls U14 Div. 2 Finals and the Boys U14 team from St. Nathys College Ballaghaderreen are in the Boys U14 Div. 2 Finals.

The Connacht U13 & U17 Closed Competition took place in Ballinamore Sports Complex on Saturday 18th of March. There was a large turnout of juvenile players from around Connacht who attended on the day.

Roscommon U15 Community Games Final
The Roscommon U15 Community Games Badminton County Final took place on Sunday 11th of March in Loughglynn Community Centre. Teams from Elphin, Strokestown, Ballaghaderreen, Ballinaheglish and Loughglynn competed for the title on the day. Loughglynn and Elphin played off for a semi-final place with Loughglynn winning out to face Ballaghaderreen in the semi-final. Ballaghaderreen won the semi-final and were through to the final. On the other courts, Strokestown and Ballinaheglish played the second semi-final with Ballinaheglish winning the match and were through to the final. The final was entertaining and competitive throughout. However Ballaghaderreen proved the stronger on the day and took the gold.
Well done to all of the teams for participating in this annual event. Good games were had by all on the day. Good luck to Ballaghaderreen in the Connacht Final on April 14th.

RJBL Juvenile Blitz #4 - - 2011/12
The fourth Roscommon Juvenile Blitz took place in Ballygar BC last Sunday, 26th of February. There was a huge turnout on the day with 85 juvenile players contesting for honours.

Connacht Closed Grade A Competition - REPORT
Boyle Badminton Club hosted the Connacht Closed Grade A competition in The Sports Complex, Boyle on Saturday 21st of January. There was a good turnout of top class players on the day and this resulted in some fantastic games.
Boyle BC had the venue in tip top shape and nothing was spared in their hosting of this event.

Ballygar Badminton Club are hosting the Connacht Closed Grade D competition in The Mattie McDonagh Sports Complex, Ballygar on Saturday 28th of January.

Connacht Closed Grade A Competition
Boyle Badminton Club are hosting the Connacht Closed Grade A competition in The Sports Complex, Boyle on Saturday 21st of January.
This competition is primarily for Grades 1 - 6, but is open to all BI affiliated players.
This is the first time for the Grade A competition to be held in Roscommon, so lets try and support and come along on the day to see some great matches as players compete for the Grade A titles.

The RBA held its Roscommon Closed Competition last Sunday in Boyle where there was a great turnout of players from all divisions. There was some fantastic duels and great fun had on the day. Ballaghaderreen Player Makes Irish U13 Squad
Congratulations to Adam McAllister of Ballaghaderreen BC on being selected for the Irish U13 squad. Adam is a very dedicated player and has had a successful season so far this year. This is a huge achievement in his first season at U13 level. Its a first for Ballaghaderreen BC and Roscommon Juvenile Badminton and is hopefully a sign of more to come from the County.
